The New York Times and Siena University polled three battleground states that could determine which party controls the Senate. The snapshot gave mixed news.
The survey showed Republican Sen. Susan Collins slightly leading the Maine contest since Troy Jackson replaced Graham Platner as the Democratic nominee. Collins holds a three-point edge in a state once viewed as Democrats’ best pickup opportunity.
Democratic nominees for open seats in Michigan and New Hampshire each lead their Republican opponents by five percentage points.

A majority of voters in all three states disapproved of how Trump has handled key policies, including the war in Iran and cost of living, and 63 percent disapproved of his performance broadly.
Democrat James Talarico leads Republican Ken Paxton by six percentage points in Texas’s Senate race, the Marist poll found, while others found a narrower edge. Trump’s job disapproval rating in Texas: 55 percent. The poll surveyed 1,139 registered voters with a 4.4 point margin of error.
