For months, Sen. John Cornyn and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton have been engaged in one of the most bitter and expensive Republican primary campaigns in recent history. Paxton has managed to hang on to a lead in polling, despite having been persistently embroiled in scandals involving allegations of infidelity, fraud and abuse of office. Last week, Paxton received a coveted endorsement from President Donald Trump, who said Cornyn was “a good man” but “was not supportive of me when times were tough.”
