The Miami Heat posted a link on their YouTube channel to a scheduled live stream titled “LeBron James Introductory Press Conference,” but it was subsequently deleted. A spokesperson for the team has since said that the video was mistakenly made public and was preemptively produced in anticipation of James possibly signing with the Heat.
James informed the Los Angeles Lakers in late June that he intended to play elsewhere during the coming season, ending an eight-year run that produced a title during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic bubble. Prediction markets have the Heat, his former team, as the favorite to land James. The other favorites: the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Golden State Warriors and the Philadelphia 76ers.

James will turn 42 in December but is still regarded as a top option in this year’s free agent market. He averaged 20.9 points per game last year en route to his 22nd consecutive all-star nod.
