During a contentious interview with CNN on Tuesday night, Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio) — who is facing allegations that he abused his ex-wife and toddler daughter — said Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) has his back.

Speaking to Politico after the CNN interview, Johnson said he actually hasn’t spoken to Miller in the past few days about the allegations, which Miller strenuously denies.
Neither Johnson nor President Donald Trump have publicly called on Miller to resign, even though his ex-father-in-law — Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) — has said Miller is not fit to be in the House.
Johnson told Politico it is “not my business” to get involved in Miller’s family matters and that the House Ethics Committee — which announced an investigation into Miller on Tuesday — will look into the allegations.

Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Florida), the chairwoman of the House Republican Caucus, said in a statement to The Washington Post that the allegations against Miller are “deeply troubling” and that they deserve a “fair, thorough review.” She did not call for Miller to resign, saying instead that she respects the Ethics Committee’s process.
“Due process is not optional — it is how the truth is established and justice is served,” Cammack said.
