Up until last month, Hunter Biden was most known for being a former president\u2019s son whose well-documented substance abuse and legal troubles<\/a> made him one of the GOP\u2019s go-to bogeymen.<\/p>\n

That changed abruptly on May 19, when Biden reemerged on X and, as if tapping on a virtual microphone, announced his presence.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m Hunter Biden. You\u2019ve never actually heard from me,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

Since then, the younger Biden has posted with a Trumpian frequency, engaging in questions and insults \u2014 sometimes both \u2014 about his past drug addiction and his famous family.<\/p>\n

That bag of cocaine found at the White House<\/a> in 2023? \u201cMost definitely\u201d not his, he said, despite those who insist it was.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would never have forgotten my drugs,\u201d he wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A fake image of him with a meth pipe? Biden has some quibbles.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know this may sound petty, but I can\u2019t stand it when people \u2026 photoshop a meth pipe in my mouth,\u201d Biden wrote<\/a>. \u201cA crack pipe doesn\u2019t have that little bowl at the end. This is why we can\u2019t trust AI. Please make the appropriate edit.\u201d<\/p>\n

He ended the tweet with a favorite phrase of the current president. \u201cThank you for your attention to this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n

In less than three weeks, Biden has gained half a million followers on the social media platform \u2014 a dramatic turnabout for someone who once was mostly kept away from the spotlight for political expediency.<\/p>\n

On X, he is a man unleashed. No subject is taboo.<\/p>\n

He loves Vermont but says he once \u201cgot the s— kicked out of me\u201d there. He admits he\u2019s \u201cbroke AF\u201d and wonders how he could make money on X.<\/p>\n

He encouraged people to go look at the contents of his infamous laptop, a topic routinely invoked by President Donald Trump and his allies to attack the Bidens.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been available to anyone and everyone since it was hacked and stolen years ago. Have you been living under a rock,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

He has attacked the \u201cEpstein Elite Oligarch class\u201d for trying to divide the left and the right. After someone lashed out at Biden for being part of the problem due to his father\u2019s stature, <\/b>Biden replied with a photo of himself, haggard and shirtless, apparently in active addiction.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo I look like I\u2019m part of the elite oligarch class,\u201d Biden wrote<\/a>. \u201cThis was taken at a super 8 motel off I95 by the way.\u201d<\/p>

And he\u2019s speaking openly about his addiction. He posted a video saying he was seven years sober and admitted in another post that during his addiction, he \u201cwanted to commit suicide almost daily.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was zero glory in my addiction,\u201d he said in a response to someone criticizing his new social media foray. \u201cIt was truly the most excruciatingly humiliating and degrading experience you could possibly imagine. \u2026 Yet here I am. And I am not alone.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other tweets, he shares more mundane thoughts: Dolly Parton should be sainted<\/a>. His mom hates when he uses profanity<\/a>. He\u2019s excited for \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d because he loves Christopher Nolan.<\/p>\n

Biden could not immediately be reached for comment. He has expressed some surprise at the reception he has gotten on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cWTF timeline are we on \u2026 I\u2019ll gladly take the title,\u201d he wrote<\/a>, after someone dubbed him the \u201cMAGA whisperer\u201d for disarming a Trump supporter.<\/p>\n

In an interview last month with right-wing podcaster Candace Owens, Biden said that he had already walked through the fire by staying sober through myriad political attacks.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomething broke in me in a good way, which was that I no longer have any fear,\u201d he told Owens.<\/p>\n

Online, Biden has alternately teased the possibility of running for president \u2014 \u201cLet\u2019s take another crack with a Biden,\u201d he joked<\/a> as a possible campaign slogan \u2014 and said he has no interest in doing so. But he has dismissed suggestions that Democratic operatives are behind his public reemergence or that his comeback has been orchestrated for political gain.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou got me. I got addicted to crack, blew up my life in vivid detail and then got clean and sober all so I could have a career in politics. You\u2019re a genius,\u201d he wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Asked about Hunter Biden\u2019s social media activity Thursday, Trump mused that his past was \u201cnot the greatest\u201d but that Biden \u201ccould do well\u201d in a 2028 Democratic primary. Later that night, the president posted a seemingly AI-generated image of Biden lovingly sketching a portrait of Trump.<\/p>\n

Biden maintains he has decided to be more vocal to help others who may be addicted to drugs or who are recovering addicts, even if some can\u2019t shake that public image of him.<\/p>\n

\u201cSTFU crack head,\u201d one X user wrote to Biden recently.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis crackhead has a lot to say,\u201d he replied<\/a>, \u201cso buckle your seat belt my friend.\u201d<\/p>
