WHIPPANY, N.J. \u2014 Panama striker Cecilio Waterman and midfielder Jos\u00e9 Luis Rodr\u00edguez had a brief confrontation during training Friday.<\/p>

Waterman pushed Rodr\u00edguez in the chest, and the two were separated by teammates, during practice ahead of Saturday\u2019s World Cup Group L game against England.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a normal situation,\u201d Panama coach Thomas Christiansen said through an interpreter later at MetLife Stadium.<\/p>

\u201cI would have liked to see these situations more often in the training,\u201d he added. \u201cThat means the team is alive, they are willing to do a good effort for being in the squad on the first 11 for the game for tomorrow. So, again, if this happens another time, it\u2019s a good sign that they are alive.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the World Cup for the second time, Panama has been eliminated from advancement with losses to Ghana<\/a> and Croatia<\/a> . Los Canaleros have failed to advance past the first round in both World Cup appearances.<\/p>
