DETROIT \u2014 Keider Montero and Emmanuel De Jesus combined for a five-hitter while both Venezuelans wore hats embroidered with \u201cVZ\u201d after this week\u2019s earthquakes<\/a> , and the Detroit Tigers beat the Houston Astros 8-0 on Friday night.<\/p>\n

James Outman hit a three-run homer, and Kerry Carpenter and Colt Keith also homered for the Tigers.<\/p>\n

Montero (4-5) took the mound shortly after a moment of silence for the victims of the earthquakes that struck Wednesday and left more 920 dead and more than 51,000 missing as of Friday night. He pitched seven innings and gave up five hits, struck out three and walked one.<\/p>\n

De Jesus pitched the final two innings, striking out one and walking one.<\/p>\n

ORIOLES 3, NATIONALS 1<\/p>\n

BALTIMORE \u2014 Trevor Rogers pitched into the seventh inning and Blaze Alexander hit a two-run single to lift Baltimore to a victory over Washington.<\/p>\n

Washington has lost four straight and seven of nine.<\/p>\n

Rogers (5-7) followed up his seven one-hit innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers last weekend by allowing a run and five hits in 6 1\/3 innings Friday. He struck out seven without a walk.<\/p>\n

Tyler Wells finished the seventh, Grant Wolfram struck out two in the eighth and Ryan Helsley worked a perfect ninth for his eighth save in nine chances.<\/p>\n

Andrew Alvarez (1-1) permitted two runs and six hits in 4 1\/3 innings.<\/p>\n

RAY 6, DIAMONDBACKS 1<\/p>\n

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. \u2014 Junior Caminero hit a three-run homer in the first inning, Cedric Mullins connected in the seventh \u2014 both off Zac Gallen \u2014 and Tampa Bay beat Arizona.<\/p>\n

Caminero hit a 427-foot shot to center in the first after Yandy D\u00edaz walked and Jonathan Aranda was hit by a pitch. Caminero has 20 homers this season, five in the last four games.<\/p>\n

In the seventh, Mullins had a solo shot for his seventh of the year. Gallen (3-7) pitched 6 2\/3 innings, allowing five earned runs.<\/p>\n

Nick Martinez (7-2) pitched 5 2\/3 innings, giving up five hits but only one earned run. He struck out three and walked one.<\/p>\n

Geraldo Perdomo hit a solo home run on the seventh pitch of the game for the Diamondbacks.<\/p>\n

RED SOX 6, YANKEES 1<\/p>\n

BOSTON \u2014 Payton Tolle took a perfect game into the sixth inning and gave up only one hit over seven scoreless, Willson Contreras homered over the Green Monster and out of Fenway Park, and Boston beat New York.<\/p>\n

Connor Wong added two RBIs as Boston posted its second straight victory over the Yankees<\/a> .<\/p>\n

Both dugouts and bullpens emptied after Contreras walked on an inside pitch. He said something to pitcher Will Warren as he was trotting to first and Yankees first baseman Paul Goldschmidt got in front of him at the bag as he yelled toward the mound.<\/p>\n

PHILLIES 2, METS 1<\/p>\n

NEW YORK \u2014 Derek Hill robbed Juan Soto of a two-run homer with a spectacular catch that helped Zack Wheeler and Philadelphia beat New York Mets.<\/p>\n

Trea Turner drove in Hill with a tiebreaking single in the seventh inning, and Philadelphia spoiled Andy Green\u2019s debut as Mets interim manager by handing New York its seventh consecutive defeat.<\/p>\n

MARINERS 3, GUARDIANS 1<\/p>\n

CLEVELAND \u2014 Colt Emerson homered, J.P. Crawford singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning and Seattle beat Cleveland.<\/p>\n

Luis Castillo (3-7) allowed a run on four hits in six innings for his first victory since May 31. Andr\u00e9s Mu\u00f1oz retired the Guardians in order in the ninth for his 15th save in 20 opportunities.<\/p>\n

Kahlil Watson had his seventh RBI in eight games for the Guardians, who fell to 3-7 since All-Star third baseman Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez was placed on the injured list after he broke a bone in his left hand June 13 against Detroit.<\/p>\n

RANGERS 5, BLUE JAYS 4<\/p>\n

TORONTO \u2014 Nathan Eovaldi struck out nine in seven shutout innings to win his third straight start, Justin Foscue homered and drove in three runs, and Texas held on to beat Toronto.<\/p>\n

Jacob Latz pitched the ninth for his 16th save in 18 chances as Texas survived a late Toronto rally to win for the fifth time in eight games.<\/p>\n

Eovaldi (8-7) walked Daulton Varsho in the second and didn\u2019t allow a hit until Vladimir Guerrero Jr. singled in the fourth. Eovaldi allowed five hits.<\/p>\n

The Rangers led 5-0 after seven, but after Robby Ahlstrom retired one of the three batters he faced in the eighth, Jakob Junis came on and gave up Guerrero\u2019s two-run single that made it 5-2. Kazuma Okamoto followed with a two-run homer to make it 5-4.<\/p>\n

REDS 6, PIRATES 4<\/p>\n

PITTSBURGH \u2014 Pinch-hitter Noelvi Marte hit a tiebreaking, two-run homer in the eighth inning after Cincinnati scored four runs off Paul Skenes in the second, and the Reds beat Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

Given a 1-0 lead on Konnor Griffin\u2019s homer leading off the first, Skenes allowed RBI singles to Spencer Steer and Tyler Stephenson and sacrifice flies to Blake Dunn and Elly De La Cruz. After the singles put the Reds ahead 2-1, Cincinnati loaded the bases with no outs when a called third strike by umpire Jeremie Rehak against Matt McLain on a full-count pitch was changed to a ball in an ABS appeal.<\/p>\n

Skenes, the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner, gave up four runs, six hits and two walks while striking out seven in five innings. His ERA rose from 2.86 to 3.10.<\/p>\n

With the score 4-4, Sal Stewart singled off Mason Montgomery (2-3) with one out in the eighth and Marte followed with a 405-foot homer.<\/p>\n

PADRES 7, DODGERS 1<\/p>\n

SAN DIEGO \u2014 Walker Buehler pitched one-run ball into the sixth inning for a victory over his former team, Ty France hit an early three-run homer and San Diego beat Los Angeles for their fourth consecutive win.<\/p>\n

Buehler (5-3) yielded three hits and three walks with five strikeouts in his second career start against the Dodgers<\/a> , his employers for his first decade in pro baseball. He made two All-Star teams and won two championship rings in Dodger Blue, recording the last out of the 2024 World Series<\/a> in his final appearance.<\/p>\n

Mookie Betts homered for the major league-leading Dodgers, whose three-game winning streak ended in the first of seven games in 10 days between these Southern California rivals.<\/p>\n

Sung-mun Song delivered a two-run single before Rodolfo Dur\u00e1n and Fernando Tatis Jr. added RBI hits in a four-run eighth inning of the Padres\u2019 sixth victory in eight games.<\/p>\n

ATHLETICS 9, ANGELS 3<\/p>\n

ANAHEIM, Calif. \u2014 Shea Langeliers capped a seven-run rally in the fifth with the Athletics\u2019 sixth straight single, backing J.T. Ginn in a victory over Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Ginn (6-4) gave up three runs and eight hits, striking out five and walking one, to provide a much-needed boost to a pitching staff with that had major league highs in June with a 6.14 ERA and 44 home runs allowed.<\/p>\n

Angels starter Walbert Ure\u00f1a (5-6) was perfect through four innings, opening the game with 15 straight strikes and needing only 36 pitches \u2014 31 strikes \u2014 to retire his first 12 batters.<\/p>\n

But the 22-year-old right-hander, who had a 1.93 ERA in his previous 10 starts, walked two of his first three batters in the fifth, throwing nearly as many pitches in the inning (36) as he did in the first four.<\/p>\n

Max Muncy broke up Ure\u00f1a\u2019s no-hit bid with an infield single that load the bases, and the A\u2019s followed with Jeff McNeil\u2019s two-run single, Alika Williams\u2019 RBI single, Henry Bolte\u2019s two-run single and RBI singles by Nick Kurtz and Langeliers that built a 7-1 lead.<\/p>\n

BRAVES 3, GIANTS 1<\/p>\n

SAN FRANCISCO \u2014 Mauricio Dub\u00f3n had two hits and scored twice against his former team, Ozzie Albies drove in two runs and Atlanta beat San Francisco to stop a four-game skid.<\/p>\n

Matt Olson added two hits while Dominic Smith also drove in a run against his ex team to help the Braves win for just the second time in their last 10 games against the Giants.<\/p>\n

Rafael Devers had an RBI double for San Francisco. Rookie catcher Drew Cavanaugh singled in his major league debut.<\/p>\n
