Olise leads with five assists, while Mbappe and Dembele have two apiece. Barcola has a goal and two assists.<\/p>\n

Mbapp\u00e9 scored 18 goals in 18 World Cup games, one behind Messi\u2019s career record<\/a> of 19 in 29 matches.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know that I do have qualities but I do have to show them on the largest stage that is the World Cup,\u201d Mbapp\u00e9 said.<\/p>\n

France is using a 4-2-3-1 formation and Deschamps allows freedom to be fluid.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey come in different positions. They\u2019re not static,\u201d Swedish forward Viktor Gy\u00f6keres said. \u201cThey know each other well in how they move and their connection between each other.\u201d<\/p>

Les Bleus scored 14 goals over seven games in winning the 1998 World Cup, 12 when it captured its second title in 2018 and 16 four years ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re very much more offensive than in 2018 and in 2022,\u201d Mbapp\u00e9 said through a translator. \u201cIt\u2019s the continuity of what we started to build throughout Didier Deschamps\u2019 tenure over the last 14 years. You can see the evolution, his personal touch, and the arrival of a lot of young talent.\u201d<\/p>\n

France has overtaken Argentina for No. 1 in FIFA\u2019s rankings. Its four wins have come against teams currently ranked 18th (Senegal), 63rd (Iraq), 21st (Norway) and 37th (Sweden).<\/p>\n

Paraguay, its next opponent Saturday, is 34th. Potential quarterfinal opponents include Morocco (sixth) and Canada (30th). Spain (No. 3) looms as a semifinal opponent.<\/p>\n

Sweden coach Graham Potter proclaims France is the best team he\u2019s seen in the tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause of the players in the wide areas, sometimes you have the double up on them because they could just beat you in 1-v.-1 situations,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd then they\u2019ve got not a bad striker in the middle. So you\u2019ve got problems here and you\u2019ve got problems here. And then it can also build up with good control, strong center backs, so direct football isn\u2019t easy against them either.\u201d<\/p>\n

France is bidding to become just the third nation to reach three straight World Cup finals after Germany (1982-90) and Brazil (1994-2002).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have really good memories, also bad ones with what happened the last time that we played the World Cup,\u201d said midfielder Aur\u00e9lien Tchouam\u00e9ni, a member of the 2022 team. \u201cEverybody is ready to fight and to give everything to make sure that all the French people are going to be proud of us.\u201d<\/p>\n
