More than three years after a jury found<\/a> that President Donald Trump sexually abused and defamed E. Jean Carroll, she has received the $5.6 million awarded to her by jurors, court records show.<\/p>

Carroll had in 2019 accused Trump of sexually assaulting her in the mid-1990s. After he denied Carroll\u2019s accusations and publicly assailed her, she filed two civil lawsuits. The first case went to trial in 2023 and ended with jurors awarding Carroll $5 million<\/a> in damages.<\/p>\n

The money had been deposited with the court while Trump appealed. The U.S. Supreme Court last month declined his request<\/a> that they take up the case. Trump\u2019s attorneys have asked the Supreme Court to reconsider denying his appeal.<\/p>\n

Last week, U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan in New York ordered that Carroll receive the money<\/a>.<\/p>

According to a notice posted in the court docket Tuesday, the money \u2014 $5.6 million, which included interest that built up \u2014 was released as ordered last week, the day after Kaplan issued his order. Carroll\u2019s other lawsuit against Trump, which went to trial in 2024, ended with jurors ordering him to pay her more than $83 million<\/a> for defaming her. Trump\u2019s attorneys have said they plan to ask the Supreme Court to hear his appeal of that outcome as well.<\/p>\n
