President Donald Trump pledged to \u201cIMMEDIATELY\u201d<\/a> ask the Supreme Court for a rehearing days after the justices struck down his executive order banning birthright citizenship in June.<\/p>

\u201cThis miscarriage of justice will destroy America if they don\u2019t change their absolutely insane decision,\u201d Trump wrote on Truth Social, referring to the <\/b>high court\u2019s ruling.<\/p>\n

But the administration did not immediately ask for a rehearing, and the 25-day window to file such a motion has now closed. The Supreme Court\u2019s docket shows no signs of any action.<\/p>\n

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n

That the president did not ask for a rehearing won\u2019t surprise many legal experts, who said it was highly unlikely the Supreme Court would grant one. The last time the court agreed to do so was in 1965, according to Georgetown law professor Steve Vladeck<\/a>.<\/p>

The Supreme Court ruled Trump\u2019s executive order denying citizenship to children born to mothers in the country illegally or temporarily was unconstitutional in a 6-3 decision<\/a> that was one of the biggest of the recently concluded term.<\/p>\n
