The Air Force will rename Joint Base Charleston, its massive South Carolina base that’s home to much of the military’s C-17 cargo aircraft fleet, after the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, according to a memo obtained by The Washington Post.

The renaming to Joint Base Lindsey Graham honors the South Carolina Republican’s “decades of distinguished service to the United States Congress and the United States Air Force,” according to the memo signed by Air Force Secretary Troy E. Meink. The memo, dated Monday, also says that Graham’s support for military and commercial aviation projects “helped transform the Charleston region into one of America’s foremost aerospace centers.”
Graham was honored Tuesday at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, where Vice President JD Vance and other dignitaries eulogized the late senator, who died this month at 71.
