House Democrats launched an attack ad on Republican Rep. Jeff Crank (Colorado) on Monday featuring the family of Virginia Giuffre, an outspoken accuser who said she was trafficked by Epstein and died by suicide last year. In the ad, Giuffre’s brother and sister-in-law, who live in Crank’s district, accused the congressman of refusing to meet with them regarding Giuffre’s case. They also note Crank’s initial vote against releasing the Justice Department’s files on Epstein, though he did support the measure after Republican leadership endorsed it.
“Jeff Crank covered up Epstein’s crimes to protect Donald Trump,” Sky Roberts, Giuffre’s brother, says in the ad. “He has no business being in Congress.”
Authorities have not accused Trump of participating in Epstein’s criminal conduct.
Members of Crank’s staff invited and met with Giuffre’s family in their district office, though the congressman was in Washington and did not meet them in person, according to correspondence. Crank said at the time he would support the release of the files so long as the identities of the victims were protected.

“It is deeply unfortunate that Washington Lobbyist Jessica Killin is preying on a grieving family with the help of the Washington Democrats,” Crank’s campaign said in a statement. “The statements contained in this ad are intentionally vague.”
Crank is in a competitive race against Democrat Jessica Killin. Democrats have continued to invoke Epstein as a personification of Washington cronyism throughout this election cycle.
