The Supreme Court’s major cases during the 2025-26 term

Cases related to President Donald Trump are dominating the Supreme Court’s docket for the second straight term, and this time the stakes are higher.

The justices have already ruled that Trump cannot continue with most of his sweeping tariffs, the hallmark of his economic agenda. The court is also weighing whether to overturn a 90-year-old precedent that curbs a president’s power to dismiss the heads of agencies that Congress set up to be independent. The justices will also determine whether Trump can fire a member of the powerful Federal Reserve.

But Trump’s policies are not the only thing on the court’s docket. The justices are also deciding major cases on politics, transgender rights and more.
