Sen. Darline Graham (R-South Carolina) said Monday that she will seek a full six-year Senate term after President Donald Trump urged her to run.

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R) appointed Graham last week to succeed her brother, Lindsey Graham, who died July 11.
Trump on Friday encouraged Darline Graham to run for a full term after initially saying he did not expect her to run — and Graham said Monday that she’s in.
“I feel like I can do it,” she told Fox News’s Sean Hannity. “I feel an inner peace about it. Will it be difficult? Yes, absolutely.”

Graham will face a competitive Republican primary in South Carolina despite Trump’s endorsement. Reps. Russell Fry and Ralph Norman have also said they will run in the Aug. 11 primary.
The filing period opens Tuesday. The primary will go to a runoff Aug. 25 if no candidate wins a majority of the vote Aug. 11.
