In Wisconsin, the digital billboards on heavily traveled highways read: “What’s worse than Chicago? Tariffs.” In Ohio, it’s: “What’s worse than Michigan? Tariffs.”
The 143 digital billboards are part of a $1 million campaign by Small Businesses Against Tariffs, a nonprofit affiliated with Defending Democracy Together — a right-leaning advocacy group founded by Republicans who oppose President Donald Trump’s policies.
The campaign launched last week and will continue through mid-October. The seven states were chosen because they’re heavily affected by the new round of Canadian tariffs, the group said. The states are Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Iowa and Illinois.
