President Donald Trump on Monday announced that about 600 low-cost generic drugs would be available through TrumpRx.gov, a government website aimed at helping Americans purchase medications at discounted prices.
“By incorporating this massive catalog of low-cost generics at TrumpRx.gov, consumers will now have one source to ensure that they’re getting the lowest possible cost on their prescription,” Trump said in a presentation at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.
Trump officials launched the website in February, touting discounts that the administration had secured for drugs that treat infertility, obesity and other conditions as part of a year-long pressure campaign to extract pricing concessions from pharmaceutical companies. Some outside experts have hailed the website’s potential but said its impact so far has been limited.
Trump was flanked Monday by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and other deputies. He was also joined by executives from Amazon Pharmacy, Cost Plus Drugs and GoodRx, who said they would integrate their own companies’ services to sell prescription drugs with TrumpRx.gov. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post.
“Republicans want cheaper drugs, independents want cheaper drugs, Democrats want cheaper drugs, and together I think we’re going to do something special,” said Mark Cuban, the co-founder of Cost Plus Drugs and a prominent critic of Trump during the 2024 election.

“He said, ‘This is something that really works.’ … He had to believe that if he said it about me,” Trump said.
The president’s drug-pricing initiative has been one of his top political priorities ahead of this year’s midterm elections. Trump and his aides have used tariff threats, promised expedited federal drug reviews and other leverage in negotiations with drug company executives. They have also pressed foreign leaders to raise their own countries’ drug prices to help absorb global research and development costs, in an initiative dubbed “Most Favored Nation.”
Voters have identified health care costs as their top economic concern heading into this year’s midterm elections, according to polling conducted by KFF, a nonpartisan health care think tank and polling organization. Trump’s advisers have also urged him and Republicans to tout their work to lower drug prices in an effort to win over independent voters.
Trump’s deputies used the event to lavish praise on the president.
“These are some of the most affordable brand name drugs in America, made possible thanks to our president’s legendary deal making,” Gebbia said.
