Former vice president Mike Pence said he has “no plans” to run for president in 2028.
The conservative’s policy advocacy work through his think tank Advancing American Freedom and spending time with his family are his top priorities, he added during a Wednesday night event hosted by the Economic Club of Washington, D.C.
Pence had challenged President Donald Trump in the 2024 Republican presidential primary, but he dropped out five months later. Trump is term-limited and cannot run in the 2028 presidential election.

Pence and Trump had a falling out after Pence refused to block the certification process for the 2020 election on Jan. 6, 2021. In that election, Joe Biden won against Trump, who was running for reelection as president.
“It was the easiest decision I’ve ever made,” Pence said Wednesday. “By God’s grace I did my duty that day.”
