Paul Pelosi, husband of former House speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California), was involved in a hit-and-run Friday that caused significant damage to a parked car. He could face misdemeanor charges over the incident.

Paul Pelosi, 86, was driving in Yountville, California, when he hit a parked car on the side of the road, according to the Associated Press. He stopped briefly and then drove away. No one was reported injured. He did not have alcohol in his system, authorities told the AP.

The Napa County district attorney’s office said Sunday that it was aware of the incident and that the case had not been referred to its office for review.

“Mr. Paul Pelosi has personally apologized to the owner of the vehicle and assured them that he would take responsibility for the damage to their vehicle,” a spokesperson for the Pelosi family said. “Speaker Pelosi will not be commenting further on this private matter.”

Pelosi pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge in 2022 of driving under the influence and causing injury after a car crash.

Two months later, he was violently assaulted with a hammer during a break-in at the couple’s San Francisco home.
